What this is

One Layer Down is a reflection tool. An AI asks you questions to help you think something through. It does not give advice, and it is not therapy, counseling, medical, legal or financial advice. Decisions you make are your own.

Not a crisis service

If you are thinking about harming yourself or someone else, or you are in danger, stop here and contact your local emergency number or a crisis line (988 in the US; findahelpline.com elsewhere).

AI can be wrong

The questions are generated by an AI model. They can misunderstand you or be phrased badly. If a question doesn't fit, say so or skip it.

Fair use

Your first conversation is free. Please don't try to get around the limit, automate the service, or use it to generate content unrelated to reflecting on your own situation. We may limit access to stop abuse.

Buying conversations

After your free conversation, you can buy a pack of conversations on the pricing page. It's a one-time payment, not a subscription. Each new conversation uses one; all the questions, your replies and the clarity card inside it are included. Purchased conversations are tied to your account, last 365 days from the date of purchase, and can't be exchanged for cash or transferred.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Prices are shown in US dollars and don't include sales tax or VAT, which Paddle adds at checkout where it applies; Paddle's buyer terms also apply to your purchase.

Refunds

If you're not happy with a purchase, you can get a full refund within 14 days of buying, no questions asked. Email hello@onelayerdown.com from the address you signed in with, or reply to your Paddle receipt. Once refunded, any conversations left in that pack are removed from your account. This doesn't affect your statutory rights.

Age

You must be at least 16 years old to use this site.

Your content

What you write stays yours. You give us permission to process it only to run the service, as described in the privacy policy.

No warranty

The service is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for decisions made or actions taken based on a conversation here.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version.
